✈️ Solo Traveling — Tips, Trips, Ideas + More

As a solo traveler, you begin to gain a level of confidence in your decision-making and desire for more that is remarkable for the healing journey. I mean, the ability to choose where, when, why, and how? That’s top-tier self-care. Relying on your own better judgment to take risks will boost your self-esteem and give you the courage to face tasks head-on.

The beauty of solo trips is the reliance on God’s plan for you—and nothing else. No outside opinions. No last-minute bailers. No attitude problems. No being late because you’re waiting on other people. No indecisive restaurant choices. No conflicts. Just vibes. Your vibe. And that, my friend, is a beautiful thing.

The confidence begins when you book that flight and tell no one about it. I mean, it’s so fun when you share your location with friends and family and one day they check and you’re in Hawaii, or Greece, or Tennessee, or wherever your heart desires. The reason for a solo trip is your own very unique reason—and you don’t need to explain yourself to anybody. It’s okay to tell one or two people you trust so no one gets worried, but if you’re a girl like me? You don’t tell anybody except your momma the day before.

See, my most grand solo trip started as a single flight to Tennessee from my hometown in Southern California. It ended up with apartment tours, camping, free meals and lodging, and another flight to Chicago! My intuition (and mainly God) spoke to me the entire trip and told me where to go next. I had this little thing (that ain’t so little) called faith.

I woke up one morning—on my birthday—in Chicago with my distant family and an acceptance letter to an apartment I loved in Western Tennessee. I cried, jumped for joy, screamed, hugged my uncle, and thanked him for being there to share such exciting news. And that? That was life-changing.

See, when God tells you (you know that little voice in your head that you think is your own thoughts—yeah, that’s God speaking, love) to do something, move somewhere, start that idea—you do it. You don’t need to have all the control or know the why. Just know you’ll find out the why along the way. Just have faith. Book that flight. And don’t tell nobody until you come back. Take a solo trip, girl. It just might enhance your life.

🧳 Tips for Booking Your Solo Trip

USE YOUR RESOURCES.

🌐 Digital Tools That Feel Like Magic

  • TripAdvisor: We have TripAdvisor—the #1 booking site for flights, things to do, places to stay, restaurants to eat at, and so much more. It’s full of great ideas once you pick your destination. Read reviews, compare prices, and build your itinerary like a moodboard. It’s not just a site—it’s a portal to possibility.
  • Google Flights: Track prices, set alerts, and find the best time to book. It’s like having a travel oracle in your pocket.
  • Airbnb & Vrbo: For cozy stays that feel like home. Filter by “Superhost,” read every review, and trust your gut. Bonus points if the space has a bathtub, balcony, or bookshelf.
  • Rome2Rio: If you’re hopping cities or countries, this app shows you how to get from point A to point B—plane, train, ferry, or foot.
  • Pinterest: Yes, Pinterest. Search “solo travel packing list,” “healing destinations,” or “editorial travel photography” and let the visuals guide your spirit.

✈️ Airline Recommendation: Delta. Period.

Delta is that girl. She’s polished, reliable, and knows how to treat you right in the skies. Here’s why I always recommend Delta for solo travel:

  • Free carry-on + personal item
  • In-flight Wi-Fi (so you can journal, stream, or check in with your spirit team mid-air)
  • Seat-back entertainment with movies, music, and more
  • SkyMiles rewards that actually add up
  • Smooth app experience for booking, tracking, and rebooking if needed
  • Delta Comfort+ upgrades for extra legroom and early boarding (yes please)

Delta’s vibe is luxury without the fuss. And honestly, Delta—if you’re reading this, go ahead and slide into my inbox with a lil sponsor offer or flight attendant position. I’m ready.

🧠 If You’re Anxious About Traveling Alone…

If you’re dealing with anxiety, fear, or worry about things that may never happen—or maybe you’ve seen Taken one too many times—my honest opinion? Give it to God. You don’t need it. You don’t need to worry about a damn thing.

I traveled to three of the “most dangerous” cities on my own (Baltimore, Memphis, and Chicago) and never felt a fearful bone in my body because I knew God was protecting me every step of the way. My spirit team is so strong. I LOVE YOU, MY ANGELS. Let it go, love, so that you may receive.
